An ideal candidate will be an expert in the areas of machine learning and statistics who will have expertise in applying theoretical models in an applied environment. The candidate will be expected to work on numerous aspects of Machine Learning such as feature engineering, probabilistic modeling, hyper-parameter tuning and deep learning.Job responsibilities:1. As an Data Scientist on our team you will work with talented peers to develop novel algorithms and modeling techniques to advance the state of the art NLU (Natural language understanding) developments.2. You will leverage Amazon’s heterogeneous data sources and large-scale computing resources to traing Machine Learning models for their application in NLU.3. This role requires a pragmatic technical leader comfortable with ambiguity, capable of summarizing complex data and models through clear visual and written explanations.4. The ideal candidate will have experience with machine learning models and their application in AI systems. We are particularly interested in experience applying natural language processing, deep learning at scale. Additionally, we are seeking candidates with strong interest in data/research sciences and engineering, creativity, curiosity, and great judgment.5. You will interact with various stake holders: product leaders, program managers, other domain managers and developers on regular basis for requirement collections, deliveries, and other related communicationBASIC QUALIFICATIONS* Bachelor or Master's degree in highly quantitative field (CS, machine learning, mathematics, statistics) or equivalent experience.* Experience applying various machine learning techniques, and understanding the key parameters that affect their performance.* Experience developing experimental and analytic plans for data modeling processes, use of strong baselines, and the ability to accurately determine cause and effect relationships.* Have a history of building systems that capture and utilize large data sets in order to quantify performance via metrics or KPIs.* Understanding of relevant statistical measures such as confidence intervals, significance of error measurements, development and evaluation data sets, etc.* Experienced in using multiple data science methodologies to solve complex business problems.* Experienced in handling large data sets using SQL and databases in a business environment.* Excellent verbal and written communication.* Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.* Thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS* Master's degree in Statistics, Applied Math, Operations Research, Economics, or a related quantitative field with at least 4+ years of working experience as a Data Scientist.* Experienced in writing academic-styled papers for presenting both the methodologies used and results for data science projects.* Hypothesis testing (including statistical hypothesis testing) and experimental design* Experience with unstructured textual dataAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
