Roshanak's team mission is to solve difficult and massive problems that impact the world. "This is incredibly fascinating and at the same time obviously very challenging." She joined this team as part of her year-long sabbatical, hoping to challenge herself, learn new things, and contribute to interesting and impactful projects.
"As an academic I am used to having a lot of intellectual freedom, and I love to learn. When I joined Amazon, I expected a rigid corporate structure where people don’t have a lot of influence on what they work on. I was definitely wrong. Amazon is the type of organization where you are encouraged to take ownership and innovate," she explains. "What I find fascinating about Amazon is how our leadership principles are practiced every day. They influence how we interact with our customers, run our meetings, make decisions, innovate, hire, and work every day. I love that I work with smart people who are motivated and determined to move forward and change the world."
